There are allot of people under the impression that the kenosse park trails are open.
I just had a lengthy conversation with Joan ( park supervisor) this A.M in regard to the trails in Kenosee. They ARE and WILL REMAIN closed for the remainder of the season.
She was very great to talk to . I had initially thought the main reason for them being closed was that their was too much dead fall across the trails. After extending our support to go in and help clean up with chainsaws etc, in order to make the trails useable again. She thanked us for our support, however ..
The C.O's ( conservation officers) have shut down the trails due to the excessive rain. Although most of us riders like it a little wet and mucky, they feel that it is impossible to control the amount of potential damage to the greenery if they let people in their. This I do find understandable as ATV users are not the only ones that use those trail systems.
They have made their decision to keep the trails closed in an attempt to make ALL users of the park in general happy and safe.
Their have been allot of people Tearing down gates, cutting tree's etc in order to access the park. This is simply making things worse for us guys, as I will be attending a meeting with all their board members , and they are seriously considering the possibility of shutting the park down to atv access completely , as the damage to repair gates etc is starting to climb.
She also noted that they are more than willing to help support an ATV park in the S.E that is dedicated strictly to off road vehicals. We will also be discussing this in the upcoming weeks etc.
So.. just an FYI and figured I would pass the information along!
